Scottish Neonatal Pre-Transport Care Course

This Course was developed as a joint initiative between the Scottish Neonatal Transport Service and the SMMD Programme in response to requests from community maternity units' staff.  It covers the knowledge and skills required to assess and care for a baby while waiting for interhospital neonatal transfer.  The Course is designed for any professional working in the community maternity unit environment, i.e. midwives, GPs, and Scottish Ambulance Service personnel.  It is run by Scottish Neonatal Transport Service personnel with support from the SMMD Programme.
Scottish Routine Examination of the Newborn Course
The purpose of this Course is to provide standardised training for all healthcare professionals in the routine examination of the newborn. The Course is developed from the Best Practice Statement produced by NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (2004) available on http://www.nhshealthquality.org/ and covers all the elements of the newborn examination.

Scottish Normal Labour and Birth Course
This Course has been developed to give professionals in maternity care the opportunity to re-visit labour and childbirth in a manner that strengthens the concept of normality in childbirth: that normal childbirth is a physiological rather than a pathological event.  Principles of normality can be applied in a range of core settings.

Scottish Emergency Maternity Care Course for Non-Maternity Professionals

The overall aim of this Course is to provide non-maternity specialist health care staff with the supplementary knowledge and skills necessary to help them deal appropriately with maternity care emergencies.
Scottish Core Obstetrics Teaching and Training in Emergencies Course
