The Scottish Maternity Noticeboard
Our noticeboard page details news and events that will be of interest to Midwifery and Maternity Care professionals.
Perhaps you have news snippets and details of events that you would like to see promoted on this page? If so please e-mail the details to Hayley McDonald (SMMD Programme Manager).
NHS-ConNeCT currently offers professional workshops on: Breastfeeding Works and How!; Leading a Dynamic Breastfeeding Session; Breastfeeding Peer Support Training; Teaching and Using Optimal Positions and Movement for Birth – and Overcoming the Obstacles; Postnatal Groups – Meeting Social and Emotional Needs; Informed Choice – Myth or Reality; Teaching Men – Is There a Difference?; Group Work Skills; The Pelvic Floor – Very Important or Not Worth Bothering About?; Running Effective Antenatal Class; Baby Calming with Author Caroline Deacon – Research Based Strategies for Health Visitors and Nursery Nurses, and Post-natal Depression. Our most popular course is Running Effective Antenatal Classes for Teenagers.
Workshops are advertised in Practising Midwife, MIDIRS, www.midwivesonline, other relevant journals and on NCT’s own website - www.nct.org.uk. Delegates can make individual bookings.
Alternatively, workshops can be restricted to your own staff/colleagues, or any people from other healthcare organisations that you may wish to invite.
If the outline programme of the workshop is not quite what you are looking for, we are happy to provide a tailor-made programme for your team’s needs.
The third option is to host a workshop; all you need is to be able to provide a suitable training room, which holds up to 20 people comfortably and have access to a flipchart and video. We would offer you one free place on this workshop, which would be open to anyone to attend. The advantage would be that your staff/colleagues would not have to travel, which would save time and money.
